Rolandas Rastauskas
Poet, essayist, playwright, team member of numerous international cultural projects, and festivals consultant, he needs no introduction since he is very well known to the literary community.
He is easily recognised by the abbreviated version of his name, RoRa. Every new work of his puts him in the spotlight: ready to provoke, bold enough to be disliked while eager to charm by his public stance. RoRa seems to always know how fascinating he is.
Rolandas Rastauskas earned the Prize of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania for his sharp articles on topical cultural issues in 2001; was decorated with the Commemorative Badge of the President of the Republic of Lithuania ‘For Personal Input into the Development of Trans-Atlantic Ties and on the Occasion of Lithuania’s Invitation to NATO’; received Ieva Simonaitytė Literary Award in 2006, the Prize of the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore for his book Kitas pasaulis (Another World) as the best book of 2005; the Republic of Lithuania National Culture and Art Prize in 2010; Cross of the Knight of the Order for Merits to Lithuania in 2015; and the Yotvingian Prize for his œuvre.
